Practical Lab

The focus in the laboratory is on practical and participative learning, with teaching methodologies carefully selected to deliver on the learning outcomes for a particular subject. The faculty at Govt. Lahiri PG College Chirmiri is encouraged to tailor their teaching methodology to suit the needs of students in the class.

Our college has eight (08) Laboratories which include laboratories: Physics (02), Chemistry (02), Zoology (01), Botany (01), Geology (01), Geography (01) and Ancient Indian History (01). All Laboratories are well equipped as per the requirement.

Geology Lab

The Laboratory is well equipped with all the necessary requirements. Geology Laboratory is mainly meant for the macroscopic identification of

  • CRYSTALS
  • MINERALS
  • ORES
  • ROCKS
  • FOSSILS

Microscopic identification of :

  • Mineral Sections
  • Rock Sections

etc.

Chemistry Lab

Chemistry learning becomes more interesting when students are able to understand the subject well and to apply the acquired knowledge practically. Our College has TWO well equipped and ventilated chemistry laboratories with all essential facilities. Students are trained for the practical. Lab has a lab-assistant and a helper for the maintenance and smooth functioning of the laboratory.

Physics Lab

Physics is an experimental science. The theoretical concepts and relationships introduced in the lecture part of the course describe the general nature and behavior of real phenomena. They were, appropriately, discovered by (or inducted from) careful observation and thoughtful analysis of actual experiments. Our College Physics lab aids students in establishing the relevance of the theory. It brings clarity in the mind of the students regarding the basic concept of the subject.

The Laboratory is well equipped with Solar Photo Voltaic kit, solar radiation, Spectrometers, Traveling Microscopes, Ballistic Galvanometers, Spot Galvanometers, IC Trainer kits, Regulated Power supplies and Newton’s Ring apparatus. To avoid short circuit as a precaution, trip circuit is used in the physics lab for safety measure.

Botany Lab

Our College Botany lab is well equipped for undergraduate and postgraduate students to perform various botany practicals which are necessary for the study of the structure, properties, and biochemical processes of all forms of plant life, as well as plant classification, plant diseases, and the interactions of plants with their physical environment. The laboratory is spacious, well ventilated and are equipped with the necessary instruments such as Dissecting microscopes, compound microscopes, spectrophotometer, colorimeter, centrifuge machine, heating mantle, air sampler, hygrometer, camera lucida, soxhlet apparatus, autoclave, microtome, respirometer, botanical charts and specimens.

Zoology Lab

The lab work undertaken is to provide practical about Invertebrates, Vertebrates & animal physiology etc. to undergraduate students.

Sphygmomanometer, Hemoglobinometer, Blood group testing kit, RBC, WBC counting apparatus, animal dissection apparatuses, compound microscopes are instruments present in lab. Zoology lab is providing basic and advance knowledge about the animals by morphological, physiological and anatomical aspects (by dissection).

Computer Lab

Today the word we hear from all corners of the world is ‘Computer‘ and ‘Information Technology‘ which is the result of information revolution that emphasizes the need of information. The society too is much relied on information and in any field, whoever has the latest information he is considered to be the leader. In this modern age, computers have become the way to acquire the needful information timely and accurately. This lab is open at all times when the college is open, and students are encouraged to use it.

Geography Lab

Geography lab’s primary function is to serve as a teaching laboratory. The physical geography lab contains an extensive topographic map collection, various areal photos, and a variety of apparatus and teaching aids essential for weekly completion of student’s lab experiments. A second function of the lab is to serve as a storage repository for various types of equipment used by faculty and students for research. In addition, the lab is used to conduct various forms of soil analysis.
