In order to realize vision and mission of the College is – To provide education to all, especially those from the less privileged background, to build a community of individuals who are responsible citizens, to motivate the students to work towards a harmonious, just and equitable social order and to equip them to face challenges with courage and commitment. Being situated in remote tribal area the aim of the College is to increase the number of students specially the literacy ratio of girls. Having admitted students from all sections of society of the College make sure that their needs are taken care of. The students belong to the socially and economically weak section of society the motto of the College is to enable the students to earn their livelihood and to make them independent. Besides this Lahiri College provides every opportunity to its teachers, non-teaching staff and students for an ethical and moral value-based self-development to meet the challenges of the dynamic teaching learning environment.
Govt. Lahiri PG College, Chirimiri is Distinctive in its Priority and Thrust for CAPACITY BUILDING of Teaching, non-Teaching Staffs and Students. In the past five years, the practice of Capacity Building has been strengthened in multiple dimensions.

For Teaching Staff:
· The IQAC encourages young and newly recruited faculties to participate in skill enhancement programmes like Orientations/Refresher Courses/ FDPs. In this consequence, to maintain quality of teaching profession the several teachers partake in various training progammes and make sure knowledge is up-to-date.
· The College motivates the faculties to undertake Doctoral studies, quality academic research and publication in reputed and accredited journals. Thereby three teachers are perusing their Ph.D. and one of them has been awarded. The faculty members have published research papers in accredited journals and contributed chapters in books. Teachers also participated and presented their research papers in national and international seminars/workshops.
· The College organizes various Seminars/Workshops/FDPs and Teachers of the College serve as Conveners, Co-conveners, Organizing Secretaries and Organizing members. These engagements enable the teachers to recognize their own potential, increase productivity in the workplace, undertake multiple roles, develop leadership quality, and build a sense of team work. Many teachers of the College have been invited as valued resource persons and keynote speakers in national and international academic events. The College extends administrative support for faculty to engage in curriculum development (BOS Meeting), content creation, question paper setting and internal/external examiner, answer sheet evaluation.
· The College creates an ecosystem for research/innovation and transfer of knowledge. Aftereffect, the College is recognized as research centre by affiliating university. Some eligible teachers are appointed as research guide, patent their invention and one of them is assigned as founder member in AKS University, Satana (MP).
· In the context of Covid-19, all teaching learning was shifted to the virtual platform. A group of expert teachers were given the responsibility to train and guide the faculty members to ensure smooth transition. As a result, all the teachers and students of the College completed their teaching-learning task in easy and better ways.
For non-teaching staff:
· Seminars for library professionals have been organized to access larger volume of information in a more technology-dependent environment.
· Basic and advanced ICT workshops have been organized to increase efficiency in work outcomes.
· Administrative and accounts related workshops for non-teaching staff have been held for updating knowledge and skills.
· Non-teaching staff attend training programmes in other Colleges/universities to produce innovative administrative reforms.
· Non-teaching staff are involved in supporting faculties in organizing academic activities which has enhanced their work spectrum.
The IQAC periodically facilitates academic and administrative audits. Department-wise post-audit review meetings are conducted, which allows the teacher and non-teaching staff to introspect and channelize their strengths to acquire more skills and expertise, pivotal to their promotions.
For students:
· Students are encouraged to organize a wide range of activities under the umbrella of departmental and other academic societies/cells to learn beyond the boundaries of the classroom.
· The College promotes students to undertake project work/field work/dissertation/internships, helping them develop the skill, behaviors and confidence necessary for success in the future.
· Add on Certificate Programmes have been specially designed for the students, supporting the curriculum and for advanced studies, are regularly organized in all disciplines to groom and make them industry-ready.
· Special guidance and career counseling offered to prepare the students to face competitive exams and entrance tests.
· The College has taken various skill enhancement initiatives for students in the physical fitness, Yoga, health and hygiene, language and communication, ICT/computing skill in which they get hands-on experience, useful for future professional life.
· Students are encouraged to identify, explore and develop their hidden talents and potential through a wide array of societies, promoting extracurricular activities. Students are largely involved in the organization of the sports and cultural programs, NSS/YRC activities and Annual Festival of the College.
