DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE
The Department of Commerce is one of the pioneering departments of Govt. Lahiri P.G. College which came into existence in the year 1953.
The department has been imparting various courses such as B.Com (Since 1953) and M. Com (1983 onwards). Department also motivate students for pursuing PhD in commerce.
The department also offers library facility which holds valuable books related to accounting, cost accounting, finance, management, laws, statistics, economics, entrepreneurship etc.
Extension activities, study tours are also an integral aspect of learning. Inter disciplinary approach at holistic learning are also being taken to help students to develop their insight into aspects beyond their subject and widen their area of learning.
The department looks forward for promoting systematic and holistic commerce education for developing skilled manpower who can value the economic resources of the society, strengthen trade, commerce industry and hereby the civil society.
Objectives:-
Our objectives is to motivate learners to participate in various academic exercises and programs to develop communication and presentation skills of the learners, to assist the learners in pursuing higher and professional studies and to bring out commerce graduates who are useful to the nation at large.
