Introduction:-
The department of Botany is one of the oldest departments of Govt. Lahiri P.G. College and has been in the forefront providing quality education and training in the field for the past Five decades. UG course started from its inception in 1953 with Botany, Zoology and Chemistry and Botany, Chemistry, Geology in 1975 combinations. Postgraduate course started in the year 2014. Our department has been actively organizing guest lectures, national seminars, nature walks, field trips, botanical excursion, etc. in order to achieve all-round development of students through association activities.
The UG and PG laboratory set under the department is well equipped with instruments like Light microscope, compound and dissecting microscope, Ph meter, Gel electrophoresis, paper chromatography unit, incubator, centrifuge, refrigerator etc.

Mission: To empower students to achieve holistic development and integral formation by instilling self-respect, fostering confidence, assisting with academics, enhancing quality of life, fostering employability opportunities, presenting global opportunities, and strengthening their commitment to a better future for all.
