The department of chemistry in Govt. Lahiri P.G. College Chirimiri Chhattisgarh is established in 1953. The department was started with B.Sc. and currently numbering with intake capacity of 180 students in (B.Sc. I), masters in chemistry has been introduced in the department of science in 1990 and currently numbering with the permission of 40 students in semester first. Department of chemistry focuses not only on the completion but provides a platform to enhance their talent by organizing many events. Acquiring a degree in chemistry opens a multitude of doors for graduates and post graduates students. Department of chemistry has also approved as research centre. Moreover department of chemistry has qualified and experienced faculties headed by Mr. Vijay kumar lahare (Assistant Prof. and Head).
Objective:-

- The main aim of the chemistry department is to present the chemistry in simplest and innovative form so as to make it interesting to the students.
- Additionally the department also strives to contribute to industry and address problems of societal importance.
- The department also aims at chemistry outreach in the form of books, online classes and research through project and dissertation which is helpful for out societal and industrial problem.
